My name is Paul Heavin and I started working in the family business on April Fool’s Day 2000 at the age of 14. I worked part time through school and college until a graduated with a BSc (Hons) Computer and Software Engineering. I then worked with a computer company for 18 months before returning to Heavins as an Owner in 2010.

We are a family run hardware store in Athlone started in 1984 by my uncle Willie and now run by Paul and his cousin Derek. In 2007 we moved to our current premises, a 17,000 sq ft store. In 2019 we lauched Heavins.ie which has grown rapidly and now accounts for over half of the business revenue and employs over 40 people. We are part of the Topline Hardware Group and the Euronics Electrical Group. Since the lauch of Heavins.ie we have expanded our product range dramatically to include such lines at toys and games, jewellery, home interiors and even Lucky Ducks! We ship orders all over the country and soon internationally.
